Marine Explorers project

23rd May 2022

The children in 3rd ,4th ,5th and 6th class in the Four masters school recently participated in the Marine explorers programme facilitated by the Leave no trace Ireland and the Marine institute. The children conducted research on marine animals in their classes and designed poster presentations based on this research. The children then presented their topic of interest to their peers in the classroom. There are over 120 children in those classes and they all thoroughly enjoyed learning more about their marine environment.

Padraic Creedon came into our school and facilitated workshops in every class that was participating. They workshops were based on the topics the children had chosen.

The children in 6th class went to the Bundoran RNli station to learn about safety in the marine environment. The children in 6th class also hope to participate in beach cleans with equipment from clean coasts and hear a talk about planting marram grass and sustaining sand dunes with Olivia Jones from cleancoast in June.
