Christmas Newsletter

December 2021

Dear Parents,

Please have a read over all the news and happenings at the Four Masters N.S over the past weeks. Despite all the disappointment with the pandemic still very much in our midst, the school has been a lovely positive hub of activity and buzzing with a festive atmosphere over the past weeks. I wish to express sincere gratitude to all of our wonderful staff, pupils and parents who have made this happen.

Parent’s Association Christmas Raffle

The raffle was a great success again. Huge thanks to the Parent’s Association and all the families who so generously donated prizes. All children got a selection box and many won lovely additional prizes. The total raised from the raffle was the huge sum of €1902.  This is wonderful. All proceeds will directly benefit the children in our school with huge investment being made in play equipment which I will outline in a further paragraph.

Student Council

A massive congratulations is extended to the Student Council under the guidance of Ms. Daly, who have done phenomenal work this term. They have been actively involved in so many initiatives and have done our school proud. They organised beautiful care packages for the elderly and vulnerable in our community and local community volunteers kindly delivered them for us. They have organised a book collection and we have received many books in pristine condition that will be delivered to our class libraries. Also, the Student Council have organised a Christmas Jumper Day tomorrow. Children can bring €2 donation and all funds will go directly to our local St. Vincent De Paul Society.

Christmas Pantomime at The Helix

Sincere thanks to Mr Britton who arranged for a whole school license to view the Christmas Panto from the Helix. All classes had the lovely opportunity to view the Panto and share in some Christmas laughs and fun!

Congratulations

Congratulations to Mr. Gallagher on the celebration of his recent marriage to Méadhbh. We wish them both a lifetime of health and happiness together.

Advent Assemblies

Thank you to the senior classes in the school who have hosted beautiful and prayerful Advent Assemblies on Zoom for the whole school over the recent weeks. The sharing of music and prayer in anticipation for the birth of Jesus was a special time of togetherness throughout the school.

Christmas Videos

Each class put so much work into the beautiful Christmas performances which have been recorded and are posted on the school website. Please look at your child’s class page and enjoy the show!

The new school website is coming together really well and thanks to parents for the positive feedback!

Friendship Squad

We are working on setting up a Friendship Squad on the yard early in the new year. I will be in touch to explain in more detail, but we have ordered a significant amount of outdoor play equipment and storage trollies and have ordered a shed especially for storage of this equipment. It should make lunchtimes very exciting and more constructive for the children and also give children alternatives from football at lunchtime. We will have it up and running as soon as possible in the new year and thank all of the fundraising efforts of the Parent’s Association who are hugely supporting this initiative. Thanks also to The BOM who have been very supportive.

Swimming

Swimming will commence early January for 6th Classes. We will send reminders and details first week back!

We wish you all a peaceful Christmas and a positive new year filled with every blessing.

School will close at 12.30 tomorrow and will re-open on 6th January.

Warmest Regards,

Siobhan Clarke and Staff.
